The Alligator Chomp

Tristan learned a new dance this week Courtesy of YO GABBA GABBA!

Last Week In Review:

One night, on my once in a long time trip by myself to the store I received this picture on my phone asking "mommy where are you?" Too cute! Judging by this pic there is no denying that Timmy and Tristan are father and son. On Friday night we went and ate at a Mexican restaurant called Chelinos with Timmy's mom and Grandma Bromley. On the way out the door we saw one of those quarter machines with fake mustaches. We just had too... Tristan was a hoot!

Last weekend the city of Norman held it's city wide garage sale and so we decided to have one also. We sold tons of JUNK and were able to make some money to use on our anniversary in a few weeks. Anyways, Tristan got to keep all the quarters and he just loved putting them into his piggy bank...I think he loved the sound that it made when the quarters hit the bottom the most!

On Tuesday after we dropped Seth off at school we stopped by the library and played a while. He absolutely loved this train. He was so loud yelling "ahh choo, ahh choo" the whole time he was climbing on it. They also had a train table that he liked. I think Santa needs to bring him some trains this year...hint hint SANTA! We also read a few books but for the most part the train had his attention!

Teriyaki Pineapple Turkey Burgers

I want to start a new tradition....one where I try a new recipe each week...and this week we tried Teriyaki Pineapple Turkey Burgers.

  • 1 can 20oz pineapple slices
  • 1/2 cup teriyaki marinade
  • 2lbs. ground turkey
  • 1tsp. fresh ginger, grated
  • 1/2 cup bread crumbs
  • 8 whole grain hamburger buns
  • 8 slices cheddar or monterey jack cheese
  • all the fixins

PREP TIME: 25 minutes. Servings: 8

DRAIN pineapple; reserve 1/2 cup juice. STIR together teriyaki sauce and reserved pineapple juice in small bowl. MIX together turkey, ginger, bread crumbs and 1/4 cup teriyaki mixture. Shape into 8 patties. GRILL patties, brushing with remaining teriyaki mixture, until desired doneness. Place pineapple slices on grill and cook until lightly golden brown. SERVE burgers on buns with pineapple, cheese and other condiments and veggies of your choice.

TIP: to make 4 servings, use one 8oz. can of pineapple slices and cut remaining ingredients in half.

Addylynn Grace...the fighter...

Addylynn Grace Luttrell received her angel wings on August 22, 2010.
Addylynn was born on January 25, 2010 with Trisomy 18 which means she has 47 chromosomes instead of the normal 46.
She touched so many lives. She was a fighter who was given less than 48 hours to live but somehow by the grace of God lived over 7 months on this earth. She survived open heart surgery with flying colors but in the end her body needed to rest and so she went to be with the Lord.
"For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is inseen is eternal." 2 Corinthians 4:17-18

And The Wheels On The Car Go.....CRASH!!!

This car is one of Tristan's favorite toys...that being said, it is not my friend's Brittany's favorite toy but I will get to that in a minute. My son is fearless...never once stops and thinks about the consequences of climbing in the plastic car backwards or how bad it's going to hurt if he falls off the edge of the bed or couch! He just goes for it! At first when he attemted his Evil Canival acts my heart would stop and I would cringe....now I know it's not IF it's going to happen but WHEN it's gonig to happen!
The picture below is of my best friend Brittany's youngest son Jayden. Jayden broke his femur because of a freak accident associated with the car toy above....Yes, he was basically in a full body cast at 2 years old! Poor Jayden had to relearn to walk again. Although on a happier note, he is going strong again and is walking well. Everytime Tristan gets to climbing on this car it makes me cringe...but I know it's WHEN.

Meet Our Newest Family Member: BENTLEY

I would like to introduce you to the newest member of the Hayes' family...BENTLEY RENEE. Bentley is a Blue Merel Great Dane. At her last weigh in when she was only 6 months old she weighed 80lbs. Benltey is now 9 months old and has grown a lot. My husband wanted a big dog to help guard the house when he wasn't home...I just wish he had mentioned she is one of the BIGGEST dogs in the world! Don't get me wrong I love her to death but it was a drastic change when I have only had 8 pound weiner dogs! As you can see from the picture above, Bentley is a very very loveable dog and Tristan loves her to death!
This was taken when she was 8 months old, she is already too big for the loveseat! Her father stood on all four paws and could look me in the face....she is a giant in the making!

Tristan loves to try and ride her but his absolute favorite thing to do is hold on to her tail while she pulls him around the living room.

Aww how could you not love this sweet face????
FYI: Bentley's middle name Renee comes from my sister-in-law Renee...Renee isn't a big fan of us naming the dog after her but it has a great ring to it....don't you think? Oh and my nephew Seth has to make sure he calls her Bentley Renee and not just Bentley....especially when my sister-in-law is around :)

Insomnia...

Tomorrow is Sasha's memorial back home in Arkansas, I so wish I could be there to say goodbye. I can't sleep tonight just thinking about it.
No words can express how much I wish I could just facebook her one more time and see how she is doing. I know she feels no pain now and is with the Lord. I just wish she didn't have to go so soon :(
One day we will all meet again in heaven!

Go Rest High On That Mountain....

Tonight I sit here and can't sleep after the news I received. One of my best friends from elementary and junior high passed away today in a car wreck. I do not understand it and I probably never will. She was taken from this world too young and her birthday would have been tomorrow.
I feel for her family and close friends. The Sasha I knew and loved was a sweet, kind and funny woman. She would have done anything for a friend. She introduced me to my first Metallica song :Enter Sandman: and was my partner on our 8th grade history project. I pray that she is is heaven and isn't in pain. We will meet again someday and all be friends again. Blogging somehow is bringing me comfot and these lyrics keep running through my mind : And there's holes in the floor of heaven and her tears are puring down, that's how you know she's watching, wishing she could be here now, and sometimes when I'm lonely I remeber she can see there's holes in the floor of heaven and she's watching over me. RIP dear friend, you are loved and will be missed!

Big Boy Bed!

Yes, the rumors are true! Tristan now has a big boy race car bed and he loves it! We haven't broke him of sleeping with is just yet but we are working on it! Monday I started putting him down for naps in it and he seems to do well as long as I lay down with him until he falls asleep! We are taking the transition slow because he is so used to sleeping in our bed and we don't want to scar him yet! I am sure it also has something to do with me and Tim not being ready to let go just yet either. :)

Barrett Family Reunion

Last weeekend was spent in the small (and when I say small, I mean not even a stop sign or gas station small) town of Pontotoc, Oklahoma at the annual Barrett family reunion. The Barrett's come from Tim's grandma's side of the family. Each year the reunion is held at the house that Grandma Hayes was born and raised in. This year was Tristan's first reunion and he LOVED LOVED LOVED it! He threw dirt with his cousins although I am pretty sure he threw most of it on himself and ate some too! He went from person to person trying a sip of their drinks and he even stole cheetos of some plates too! Tristan rode his first four wheeler thanks to his cousin Chris, he tried to play wiffle ball and horse shoes with his bigger cousins and he even participated in the egg toss! On Saturday night we went to the neighboring town of Ada and had sandwiches at the park. This park was amazzzzzing! They had a train, carousel and even putt putt golf! Tristan loved riding the train and instead of saying "CHOO CHOO" he would say "AH CHOO". I loved getting to visit with the Mississippian girls, I wish we lived closer to each other!

This is Tristan drinking from a straw (his new found passion). He stole the drink from his cousin Austin who left it unattended!

Tim and Tristan riding the four wheeler, Tristan's face would light up as soon as Tim started it up! All the kids loved riding the four wheeler!

I love this picture of Tristan and one of his Mississippian cousins Rylan waiting on the hamburgers to finish cooking!

It's Been A While..

Yeah, Yeah, I know it's been too long since I blogged about my wonderful family! A lot has changed in the last few months! Tristan is walking, talking, eating by himself and getting really great at giving me heart attacks! We bought and moved into our first home, bought a new car and had hail damage to it a month after we go it and I have started selling Scentsy wickless candles....check out my website, http://www.toriehayes.scentsy.us/ . Oh and by the way, I promise to update this blog atleast once a week!
